Mary Clare (she/they) is an autistic DMV & NOVA based Lighting Designer with a deep love for anything and everything pertaining to lighting. She graduated from George Mason University with a BA in Theatre (Design & Technical Theatre concentration), and minors in Medieval Studies & LGBTQ+ Studies. Mary Clare has worked on several of MCAA Acting for Young People’s Musical Showcases as Lighting Designer.

Selected design credits include: Lighting Designer for George Mason School of Theater’s productions of Natasha, Pierre, & The Great Comet of 1812, The Tempest, and Thrive, Or What You Will; Westfield Summer Stage’s Urinetown, The Drowsy Chaperone; Poster Designer/Artist for The Road to The End (as a part of Capital Fringe 2023); and Merchandise Designer/Coordinator & P4C Equity and Empowerment Manager with The GhostLight Players at Mason.

As a future project, she hopes to explore and research the intricacies of the theatrics of lighting within Christian devotional objects and spaces during the Middle Ages.

When not at the theatre, Mary Clare can often be found selling her illustrations at fan conventions and art markets, hanging out with her dog, indulging in her favorite media and stories, or hibernating in her much need “monk mode” time.
